ALEXA: “To determine your style, start by analyzing your preferences and interests. What types of clothing do you enjoy wearing? What colors do you favor? What style of clothing speaks to you the most?”

YOU (exasperated): “If I knew ANY of that, or how to take my answers and apply them to style, I wouldn’t have asked the question!!!”

Frustrating as it is, knowing the things that make you tick is where you need to start. Today, I’m going to talk about the 6 Style Personalities so that you can identify where you fall on the “style roadmap”. When you want to create a style that is truly you and makes you feel happy to get dressed in it everyday, you have to put in the legwork, and we begin here.

I am going to give you a brief description of each personality so you can figure out where you are (or where you desire to be). In addition, I am sharing 5 ABSOLUTE MUST-HAVES for each Style Personality! How cool is THAT?

THE SIX STYLE PERSONALITIES

The Dramatic Diva

Imagine walking into a room and all eyes turn to YOU! That’s the magic of the Dramatic Diva. She loves bold color, get-noticed prints, and edgy statement jewelry and loves to make an unforgettable entrance! Does this sound like you? If so, these MUST HAVE ITEMS can help you to own the spotlight:

Patent Leather Pants: A sleek, shiny patent leather pant whether as a dressed-up legging or a trouser pant are going to make you feel so powerful and will really dress up your look. The patent leather will get you noticed and show off your sleek figure.
Structured Blazer: A high-end blazer with impactful and bold shoulder pads will give you a bold, get-noticed look that you will wear again and again.
Long straight-line vest in black: There is something fashion-forward about a long, sleeveless vest made it a heavy Ponte knit. You can layer up underneath the vest and it will give that extra bit of drama that you know you love.

Tailored Trench Coat: A high-quality trench coat is something that will be a classic neutral and will live in your closet forever. You will wear it constantly and it will give you that elevated vibe every time you wear it.
Luxurious Cashmere Sweater: A soft refined sweater, likely in a neutral palette will be at the heart of your cool weather wardrobe. You will likely have more than one, but it’s well worth the price because it feels so soft against your skin and it’s so versatile.
High-waisted Trousers: You need trousers that are polished and flattering and a trouser in a navy or khaki will be a great base for all of your looks.
Loafers: You need shoes that have some weight to them and allow you to keep on-the-go easily. A loafer with a chunky heel will serve its purpose in your wardrobe over-and-over again.

Classic Chambray Shirt: Again, that denim vibe is on-point for your style. You will wear it with everything to denim pants to white pants, black pants, leggings, and everything in-between. You will style it buttoned all the way up and open with a cami underneath. You would be smart to have more than one. 😉
Easy White Sneakers: A low profile white sneaker is never wrong and because you demand comfort at every turn, you will wear yours in quite well. They will keep you in style, but in a way that serves the comfort that you desire.
Cozy Fisherman’s Sweater: You love a bulky cozy sweater and will wear it on repeat. It will have cabling details and probably be a bit oversized.
Pair of Cargo Pants: Utility and comfort meet in the cargo pant. Regardless of if cargos are on-trend or not, they will be a staple in your wardrobe because they are made from comfortable fabric and you can use the pockets on the legs to store lightweight items for fuss-free style.

The Timeless Classic

Looking Polished and Put-together is a non-negotiable! You always are ready for whatever the calendar throws at you and you feel confident about your crisp style. Here are your closet MUST HAVES:

Tailored Blazer: A tailored blazer is a key piece to a pulled together look inside of your arsenal. You almost feel like you aren’t dressed if you don’t have that third piece to your look. Choose your best neutral and you will wear the heck out of it!
Pencil Skirt: A classic dresser will never be without a pencil skirt. It has a simple and clean design and bonus points if it matches your blazer (or one of them) because being able to match the two would feel extremely elevated to you.
Striped Tee Shirt: You love a good classic Breton stripe. If your tees aren’t plain white, they will be striped. You can dress it up with a pop color necklace and wear it with anything from your denim to shorts to your pencil skirt.
Crisp White Button Down: No one can pull off a classic white button down than a classic. It may be the classic styling or you may find one that has a tie that goes around the waist. It can’t be too fussy because you don’t have time for that, but it will always be crisp and always be clean (you will likely have several or replace it often).
Classic Nude Pump: A nude pump of a reasonable height goes with anything in your wardrobe. The key will be to find the perfect nude color for you.

The Creative Chameleon

If flowy fabrics and dressing how you feel just in the moment is your vibe, you are a Creative. You pride yourself in your unique style and layering techniques. If this is you, your MUST HAVES LIST will start with these items:

Flowy Maxi Dress: Your maxi dress will likely be floaty with a breezy fabric and an oversized abstract print in bright colors. It’s easy to wear and will feel 100% like you!
Long Drapey Cardigan: You will want to have a kimono style or a really unique color-filled boyfriend to add an element of visual interest and fantastic texture to your looks.
Statement Tee Shirt: Think a Rock and Roll Tee or something fantastically quirky to add a pop of your own personality. You will wear it under your long cardigan or with a flowy maxi skirt.
Layered jewelry, and LOTS of it: You love the jingle jangle of jewelry and you LOVE to wear multiple pieces at once. They may be vintage finds from your thrifting, but they will all have a story to tell. Your outfit will not be complete without it.
A Blouse that has a homespun feel to it: Crocheted tops, or beaded and embellished tops will feel stylish and freeing for you. Alternatively, you may choose a floaty blouse that has a whimsical print and gives your look a Boho vibe.

The Romantic Enchantress

Fit and Flare Dress: You love to show off your curves and a fit and flare dress is just what you love to wear. It’s feminine and stretchy and flatters your features perfectly. You may have several of them in fun pastel colors.
Ruffled Blouse with a Feminine Ruffle: A chiffon blouse with a v-neckline and ruffles down the center and at the shoulders will feel so perfect for you. Again, you may love to have this style blouse in a soft floral delicate print.
